Brewers Apprentice Paperhanger of the Year

Nine young hopefuls gathered in Nottingham to showcase their decorating skills at the PDA’s annual Brewers Apprentice Paperhanger of the Year competition.  Now in its sixteenth year, the contest took place at New College Nottingham’s Basford Hall campus back in September.

The Brewers Apprentice Paperhanger of the Year competition is sponsored by Brewers, and tested the ability of the participants to accurately cut and match paper, get levels on borders correctly in place and apply paper smoothly with no blisters. Three apprentices have now been selected as finalists and will attend the PDA National Conference Gala Dinner, taking place at The Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel & Country Club on 27 October, where the winner will be announced and an official prize-giving ceremony will take place.

Lloyd Meheux, Brewers’ Marketing Manager commented; “Brewers places great value in fostering the next generation of professional decorators so we’re delighted to sponsor the Apprentice Paperhanger of the Year for a third year running.

Neil Ogilvie, Chief Executive of the Painting and Decorating Association, said; “It was great to see so many young people enter the contest again this year, each year we challenge the participants to maintain high standards of work, whilst sticking to a strict time deadline and it was brilliant to see what they can achieve.”
