Community Spirit Award Launched

Decorating contractors are being encouraged by Johnstone’s Trade to nominate themselves for its inaugural Community Spirit Award.

The Community Spirit Award is designed to highlight and reward those contractors whose responsible business activities have improved the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of a local community they have worked in. The award is running in conjunction with the brand’s current Community Spirit campaign, which is encouraging community groups or projects to put themselves forward to receive a full makeover of its facilities.

Johnstone's Trade Community Spirit AwardThe winner will be announced at the prestigious Johnstone’s Painter of the Year event, which will take place in May 2015.

Inspired by The Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012, the judging panel will be looking out for evidence that contractors have completed work that falls into one of three key categories:

  • Neighbourhood – a volunteered community makeover project, an open day or maintenance of communal spaces.
  • Youth or social inclusion – promoting career opportunities in local schools, employing young people, offering apprenticeships or employing local people who have been unemployed long-term.
  • Sustainability – estate tidy ups, volunteering with planting/communal gardens or generally making improvements to the local community.

All entries must be submitted by Friday 13th March 2015 and will be accepted from any UK & Ireland decorating company with a valid PPG account.
