The Memorial Hall at The Manchester Grammar School – an independent school for boys – has been restored to its former glory after decades of busy school life left the area in need of restoration.
Contractors Novus Property Solutions undertook the sensitive redecoration project, which included intricate work on the ornate ceiling and bringing oak wood panelling, covering the lower wall sections, back to life.
The project was completed in preparation for celebrations to mark the school’s 500th anniversary this year.
Crown Paints Specification Sales Manager Paul Cottriall recommended Crown Trade Clean Extreme Scrubbable Matt for the upper reaches of the walls to aid future maintenance.
Paul said: “Usually we would specify Crown Trade Clean Extreme for areas of high traffic as the coating is scrubbable and scuff-resistant.
“In this case, while the sections of the wall were too high to present concerns about general wear and tear, the roughly surfaced concrete finish presented a challenge.
“However, with the application of Clean Extreme, these areas can now be scrubbed down and retain their pristine appearance, rather than waiting for the building to be re-painted in future.”
The beautiful ceiling in the Memorial Hall was painted with Crown Paints Trade Matt Vinyl using colours to highlight the ornate ceiling roses whilst also retaining the historic feel of the building.
