Glidden Trade Paint Range at the Adagio

A selection of coatings from the Glidden Trade paint range has been used in the renovation of the UK’s first Adagio Hotel in Liverpool. The internal areas of the grade two listed, nine storey former department store underwent significant refurbishment as part of its transformation into a 126 room apartment-hotel.

Part of the Accor chain, the hotel occupies the top four floors of the impressive Lewis’ building in the city centre, and has recently been renovated into luxury hotel apartments featuring a modern French themed décor throughout.

Glidden Trade Paint Range at the Adagio HotelPaints from the Glidden Trade range were specified for the project by painting contractors, Ambrose Ellis Decorators, which transformed internal areas of the building, including corridors, halls and stairs.

Mike Ambrose, Director of Ambrose Ellis Decorators, said: “The Adagio Hotel is very proud of its heritage, so it was important that the decor reflected this. Glidden Trade paints were chosen for their range of colours, as we were tasked with matching the coatings with the colours used in the Adagio hotels in France. The products allowed us to achieve these colour schemes as well as good quality coverage on a relatively tight budget.”

To complement the wallpapered areas of the main corridor across each floor, Glidden Trade Acrylic Eggshell was applied below the dado rail. The rail and skirting boards were also coated with Glidden Trade Satin Finish in Brown, to provide a striking contrast to the neutral wall colour.

Following the success of the project, Ambrose Ellis Decorators won the Commercial category at the Painting and Decorating Association Premier Awards, for its work on the Adagio Hotel.
