Johnstone’s Community Spirit

An Oxfordshire day centre, which plays an integral role in community life, has got its sparkle back following a donation from paint manufacturer Johnstone’s.

Johnstone’s joined forces with social housing landlord Sovereign and national building, painting and maintenance contractor Seddon Property Services to lend its support to a campaign led by local resident, Ray Collins, to refurbish the day centre and supplied over 200 litres of product from its market-leading Aqua Gloss and Ecological Solutions ranges.

Johnstone's community spiritA team of a hundred volunteers from the local community, including children from King Alfred’s Academy in Wantage, equipped with Fat Hog brushes and rollers also donated by Johnstone’s, worked to transform the centre. Between them they repainted nearly 1000 square metres of ceilings and walls, as well as countless doors and windows in just one weekend.

Jane Doyle, Wantage Health and Wellbeing Centre Manager, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the transformation of the centre and it was wonderful to see the whole community working together. The project would not have been possible without the generous donation from Johnstone’s and we’d like to thank them for supplying over 40 cans of paint, as well as all of the equipment and tools for the volunteers to use.”
