Crown ReUse 16Last year saw Crown Paints’ national paint recycling scheme notching up record levels of more unwanted paint collected than ever before, with a varirty of community groups given a helping hand as a result.

The Kick Out The Can scheme saw more than 8,600 containers of unwanted paint brought into the network of 130 UK-wide Crown Decorating Centres by decorating professionals and the general public alike.

The paint and containers were then re-processed and recycled by social enterprise Nimtech ahead of being distributed to community projects across the company’s North West base, in partnership with regeneration charity Newground.

Crown Paints took the Sustainable Business Award at the 2015 Lloyds Bank National Business Awards.

Paula Taylor, Marketing Manager for the Crown Decorating Centre network commented : “Kick Out The Can enables our stores to provide exceptional service to our customers and have an impact on the communities they serve.

“Each year the staff on the frontline at our 130 stores show great enthusiasm and commitment to making the scheme a success, but this year they have truly excelled themselves to make it a record breaker “
