Sadolin Ski Rossendale Success

A bespoke colour scheme from Sadolin has revitalised a 40-year-old ski facility in the North West.

Log cabins at Ski Rossendale – a social enterprise encouraging people to access skiing and snowboarding – were starting to show their age after four decades hosting ski lessons, public sessions, parties and events.

salodin ski rossendaleNow, a tailored colour scheme bringing Alpine colours to the Lancashire hills has rejuvenated the facility while providing additional protection to the wooden buildings.

Sharon Smith, Sadolin Brand Manager, said: “We created a bespoke colour scheme with an Alpine feel for the buildings at the ski centre and selected Sadolin Superdec as the cabins are in an exposed location, high on the hillside, so they needed a coating which offers additional protection to help protect and preserve the buildings for longer.”

Karon Driver, director, ski instructor and duty manager at Ski Rossendale, said: “A group of us took over the artificial slopes from the council which launched Ski Rossendale 40 years ago and we are working to continue developing the facilities here.

“However, after all that time, the buildings were starting to look a little tired, so we were desperate to brighten them up and also to find a product which would protect the wood.

“It was amazing to see the colours going on. After four decades coated with a dark brown it was impossible to get back to the natural beauty of the timber, but Sadolin Superdec was so rich and easy to apply it just covered the surfaces straight away – now the whole site looks welcoming and inviting.”
