Tasteful Design

Dulux Trade Diamond Eggshell has been used in the stylish refurbishment of The Cedar restaurant based within Ashorne Hill’s conference venue, helping to provide a first class dining experience for the hundreds of delegates that pass through its doors each week.

Ashorne Hill is recognised as a leading provider of development programmes, offering tailored training solutions to major organisations. To cater for an ever growing number of guests, major extension and refurbishment work was undertaken to improve its facilities, including its dining room and concourse.

Award winning interior designers, Heterarchy, were tasked with redesigning the restaurant and dining area within the Grade 2 listed conference and training venue. The restaurant, which is set in 35 acres of Warwickshire countryside, is part of a later extension and so represented a different architectural style to the main building. As such, the designers had a wealth of requirements to meet when it came to selecting a coating for the walls.

Tony Matters, Managing Director of Heterarchy, explains: “The project required a durable and contemporary finish that created a sense of connection between the old building and the new extension, as well as complementing the beautiful views of the surrounding woodland. Also, as the room is constantly in use by many different individuals and organisations so it was important that we used a high quality product that would last. As such, we specified Dulux Trade Diamond Eggshell.”

Dulux Trade Diamond Eggshell is a robust coating, which is ten times tougher than standard water-based eggshell finishes and vinyl silk emulsions and so was the ideal choice to ensure a fresh, hardwearing, premium quality finish.

To complement the design of the room along with the limestone feature walls, bespoke tree ceiling designs and luxurious carpet and furniture, the paint was specified in Bleached Lichen 3, a soft beige shade, to create a light and airy feel.

Commenting on the finished result, Zoe Jones, Marketing and Facilities Officer at Ashorne Hill, said: “Both the restaurant and dining room look stunning. The transformation has been incredible and all of the guests have been genuinely impressed with the new look.”
