The Stray, Harrogate – a Georgian House Reborn

The technical advice and expertise of the Johnstone’s Trade colour advisory department has helped to transform a stunning Grade II Listed property in Harrogate as part of an award-winning redecoration project.

The Stray, Harrogate, a large Georgian building, built in 1786, was neglected for years and was in desperate need of repair when the current owners bought the property to live in. It has now been restored using hundreds of litres of Johnstone’s Trade’s paint.

It was vital that an appropriate colour scheme was used to ensure the interior remained in keeping both with the history of the building and its residential use. Colour and specification experts from the PPG Extra team were enlisted to provide technical guidance throughout, and made several visits to the property to provide advice to the decorator and the homeowner throughout the process.

Restoring and redecorating of The Stray, Harrogate, involved months of painstaking preparation, by father and son team Chris Green Painter and Decorators, and included stripping away hundreds of years’ worth of wallpaper. The Harrogate-based team won the Johnstone’s Painter of the Year, Supreme Winner 2013 accolade for their work on this project after impressing judges with the transformation.
