Dulux Select Decorator Award Winners

Dulux Trade has announced the winners of its Select Decorator Awards . Open to members of the Dulux Select Decorator scheme, entrants for this year’s competition were required to submit details of their best projects, complemented with statements from their clients. Entries were then judged by a panel of painting and decorating experts from the Dulux Academy, Dulux Colour Team and Professional Team.

Grand Winner this year was Peter Smith of Bannockburn, Stirling .Peter ( left in our picture above ) was awarded not only the prize for the ‘Interior Project costing over £3,000’ category, but also the accolade of overall Grand Winner for his project on behalf of a long-standing client. The homeowners had spent the last three years restoring a large, neglected Victorian building and entrusted Peter to complete the decoration work in the dining room.

Peter was involved from the outset, and worked alongside builders and other tradesmen in order to prepare the room before the extensive paintwork and wallpapering could commence. Peter’s highly professional approach throughout left the homeowner delighted.

“Peter demonstrated a remarkable degree of patience and tolerance in a situation which would really test any tradesperson. ‘Labour intensive’ doesn’t even begin to describe the process of this project, but Peter just got on with the work without complaint. Peter is such a gentleman and nice person to have working in the house – he is so obliging in every way – you simply cannot fault his customer service.” – Dominic Farrugia, Homeowner.

Anthony Nolan from Selby, North Yorkshire was the winner of the interior Project costing between £1,500 and £2,999 Category. For his winning entry, Anthony was enlisted to apply the finishing touches to a project spanning almost 11 years to convert a former 1840s Parish Council Building and School. The homeowner had conducted thorough research into the building in order to do justice to its heritage and required a decorator capable of doing the same.

The Interior Project costing up to £1,499 Category was won by Andrew Sheasby from Littleover, Derbyshire. For his award-winning entry, Andrew Sheasby completed the redecoration of a living room for a new customer following a recommendation. This project involved significant preparation work to both the walls and woodwork before the wallpaper application and paintwork.
The second winner in this category was Martin Connor who was approached about his winning job after the homeowners saw the high standard of the work he had completed on a nearby new housing development.
