Double success
A Manchester painter and decorator is set to make her TV debut after scouts spotted a photograph she had entered into an online competition run by Crown Paints.
Jo Pollock, of Ladies Who Paint, entered the monthly Crown Paints Professional Facebook and Twitter competition to Win a £100 Fuel Voucher with pictures of intricate paintwork in an historic house which had been restored after flood damage.
As well as winning the competition, Jo’s entry attracted the attentions of a television company who invited her to take part in a new series filmed this spring.
She said: “I’m really excited, it is a great opportunity and I can’t believe how much has come from entering a picture into an online competition.
“I was really pleased to win the £100 fuel voucher, but it is an amazing bonus to have my work so well publicised that it has caught the eye of television producers.”
The winning image shows detailed work in the morning room of a Grade II listed home in Eccles which had to be restored after flood damage.
Jo said: “The room was beautiful but the walls and ceiling needed a lot of restoration work”.
To get the perfect finish, Jo used Crown Trade Alkali Resisting Sealer to tackle the water damage before applying two coats of Crown Trade Matt Vinyl Emulsion in a range of period shades to restore the historic room.
Neutral and pastel shades from the Crown Trade Historic Colours Collection were used throughout with detail picked out in gold leaf.
Jo added: “The television researcher said she had seen my picture online and I’m convinced entering the Crown Paints competition was a major factor in getting my work out there on social media.
“I am delighted to have won the competition and still amazed at the good fortune entering it has brought me.”
