Dulux Trade Most Trusted Decorator

Kevin Forrester, a foreman at Wellings Decorators Ltd, based in Merseyside, has been named ‘Most Trusted Contractor Painter’ in the Dulux Trade Most Trusted Decorator competition. Kevin was awarded the title after a six month campaign to discover the UK’s most trustworthy contractor painters.

From the hundreds of entries received, a shortlist was formed across three categories: small-medium, large and national contractors.

Kevin, who was nominated for the competition by the director of Wellings Decorators Ltd, Chris Brennan, wowed the judges and won the small-medium category before going on to be chosen for the overall title.

Commenting on the judging process, Hugh Williams, technical manager at the British Coatings Federation, said: “Kevin stood out for a number of reasons, including the pride he takes in his work, his knowledge of the industry and his commitment to keeping himself and his team up-to-date with new techniques and finishes, which all help him provide the best possible service to his clients.

Just being shortlisted for the award was a great achievement so it was a big surprise to be named the winner, first of all in my category and then overall. The most important part of my job is looking after a team – obviously trust plays a big part in that.”

Kevin was presented with a trophy and won £500 of vouchers to spend in a department store as well as two tickets to a watch a Premiership team of his choice, including travel and 4* accommodation. He will also receive two premiership football shirts and a table top football game.

The winner of the national contractor category was Bob Grayson, supervisor at Alfred Bagnall and Sons (North West) Ltd.

Malcolm Vinson, senior foreman at A.C.Beck & Sons (Contracts) Ltd, was named winner in the large contractor category.
