Apprentice/Trainee Trophy Awards competition
Last chance to enter – the deadline for entries to the Painting and Decorating Association’s Apprentice/Trainee Trophy Awards competition is this Friday, 22nd February.
Objectives
The objectives of the award are to emphasise the importance of:
- Training
- Quality of workmanship
- Encouraging a demonstrably high degree of aptitude and knowledge of the craft.
Eligibility
Entries will be accepted from any apprentice/trainee who is currently undergoing recognised training.
Basis of Assessment
Amongst the evidence considered will be the employer’s report and confirmation from the entrant’s college/ training centre with regard to:
- Standard of workmanship
- Organisation of work
- Range, knowledge and understanding of best practice within the trade
- Knowledge evidence of tools, materials and surfaces
- Compliance with all Health and Safety legislation.
Judges
To maintain impartiality, a judge will be selected from the Association of Painting Craft Teachers and will also include Neil Ogilvie, CEO of the PDA. The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Regional events will include observations of practical work and include informal discussions with the Judges.
The Award
The winning Apprentice/Trainee will receive a trophy, a framed certificate and some fantastic prizes. The two runners up, will receive a framed certificate and prizes. These will be presented on stage at the Premier Trophy Awards to be held on Thursday 4th July 2019 at the Plaisterers’ Hall, London Wall, London.
Entry will be by completion of this application form and the employer must endorse each application.
