Fun, Food And Freebies at Dulux Academy

On August 4, Dulux Academy opened its doors for its regular Open House event, bringing painters and decorators together for a day of exploring what Dulux Academy has to offer, including meeting the expert team, networking with supplier partners and getting hands on with the latest tools and equipment.

The third year of the Open House took place at the Dulux Academy flagship facility in Slough, with a record 125 decorators and their guests in attendance.  The day included buckets full of freebies, a BBQ and ice cream van, as well as opportunities to take part in challenges, such as spin the wheel, bean bag throwing and a human fruit machine. There was also an array of great entertainment throughout the day with Fix Radio in attendance, a band, balloon artist – and, of course, the Dulux Dog was on hand for selfies.

Vickie Mather, Dulux Academy Lead at AkzoNobel, commented: “Our Open House event is always a reminder that the UK decorating scene is a fantastic community. Fun and learning are at the core of the Open House, and it provides a relaxed opportunity for like-minded professionals to come and spend time together and speak with the Dulux Academy team. We loved seeing so many painters and decorators come together for a day of fun, to celebrate the dedication and creativity of the industry!

“This year we are delighted to share that we raised a total of £800 for the Rainy Day Trust at the Open House, as part of the charity raffle. A charity at the heart of the painting and decorating industry, the Rainy Day Trust provides support to individuals and families within the trade during times of financial hardship, and ensures they receive the support, assistance and resources needed to overcome difficulties.”
