Survey confirms importance of prepping
A new survey of professional painters and decorators by adhesive manufacturer tesa has revealed an insight into the importance of preparation work, product purchasing decisions and important industry information sources.
Surveying 450 painters and decorators across the country, the results highlighted preparation is a key part of a project, with 56 per cent always using tape to prepare for a paint job, while 3% only use when creating design features.
Over three quarters (83%) highlighted quality as the most important factor when purchasing products, prioritising this over price (17%).
Purchasing the right product for the paint job is of great importance, with nearly three quarters (72%) trying out new products and half (50%) looking at online reviews before parting with their money.
When it comes to sources of information trade publications are still seen as a trusted source with 68% regular readers.
It also highlighted social media as a growing platform for painters and decorators to share their work and where 64 per cent find out about new products and updates in the industry.
Donna Smith, Trade Marketing Manager at tesa UK, commented: “This research has provided us with important insight to continue to understand the needs of our customers and ensure we evolve with the changing demands of the industry.”
