VALSPAR’S “YELLOW ARMY” SUPPORT
As part of its ‘Paint Up Plainmoor’ project, Torquay United Supporters Trust (TUST) has been working with businesses to make Torquay United’s football ground look pristine once more, with Valspar Trade donating a range of its exterior paint towards the redecoration.
TUST recently launched an appeal to the football club’s ‘Yellow Army’, asking for helping hands to refresh its Plainmoor Stadium. This appeal has seen widespread popularity, with supporters of the club travelling from far and wide to aid in refurbishment works to the ground.
After hearing the appeal, Valspar Trade decided to get involved by donating a range of its exterior painting products, including Masonry Smooth.
Anthony Bowman Pounder, Trade Sales Specialist for the Southwest at Valspar Trade, said: “Personally speaking, I’m a big football fan and knew that I wanted to support them, providing the players and supporters with a better matchday experience. We first visited the stadium to see exactly what products would be needed and then we went from there. I’m really proud to have been a part of this project, both for the club and the local community.”
To help repaint the stadium a range of Valspar Trade’s products were donated, with its Masonry Smooth emulsion applied to the stadium exterior and Valspar Trade Direct to Wood & Metal used extensively inside the ground for the Director’s Box, ticket stiles and doors. All paint was colour matched to the club’s iconic yellow and blue shades, displaying the team colours for all to see.
Nick Brodrick, Chairman of the TUST, commented on the work, saying: “I can’t thank the team at Valspar Trade enough. I went from visiting TradePoint to look for some initial help, to not only receiving the paint we needed but also benefitting from the team’s excellent product advice and colour-matching capabilities. The club are delighted with the work, and we know the fans will be too.”
