Sandtex in The City

Sandtex Trade products have been used to revamp a stylish Central London office block.

20 Farringdon Road has been transformed into a contemporary workplace in the heart of the city following a refurbishment project undertaken by specialist abseiling contractors Rubynest.

Their specialist ‘working at height’ team worked from temporary cradles to apply the Sandtex Trade trims system to metalwork on the building’s windows.

Sandtex Trade Rust Inhibiting Primer Undercoat, Flexible Primer Undercoat and Eggshell X-Tra were used to create the black finish specified.

An adhesion promoting formulation which provides the premium foundation for Sandtex Trade Eggshell X-Tra, Rust Inhibiting Primer Undercoat was used on the deteriorated areas of the metal work.

Sandtex Trade Flexible Primer Undercoat was then selected for application on the rest of the building, due to its ability to flex with the substrate and alleviate flaking and cracking.

The project was completed with Sandtex Trade Eggshell X-tra.

Rubynest’s abseilers took eight months to complete the project – with a team of 10 to 15 people working seven days a week.

Temporary cradles were constructed on the full 30 metre elevation and a crash deck and protection fan were also put in place.

Tom added: “I think what was most unusual about this project was the sheer size of it.

“There aren’t that many buildings in London of this magnitude where you would be carrying out this type of work.

“It got a lot of attention and the feedback we’ve had from the client, tenants and the general public has been really positive.

“They are absolutely delighted with how the paint has transformed the building.”
