Story Decorating Group donates leftover paint to community
Carlisle-based Story Decorating Group is working with The Rebuild Site to reduce its environmental footprint, by putting surplus paint from its store to good use elsewhere.
Approximately 1,000litres of varying paint products had been identified and rather than simply throwing this away, Story is donating the products to local organisations via The Rebuild Site.
The Rebuild Site was set up in 2021 to reduce construction waste by bringing together contractors, organisations and individuals to create a circular economy, through reclaiming surplus construction materials to reuse as much as possible.
Claire Story, Associate Director, said: “Whilst we’re careful to prevent surplus materials being left over at the end of our projects, sometimes it simply cannot be avoided and often the products cannot be re-used by us. The perfect solution was to pass it on to The Rebuild Site, a brilliant initiative that supports community groups and charities and just happens to be down the road from our Head Office. We’re delighted that they’ve already been able to pass on some of the paint to a local village hall.
“Donating surplus paint to schools, colleges and community projects is something we have done over the years and will continue to do, to help make a lasting impact and prevent it ending up in landfill.”
Emma Porter from The Rebuild Site commented: “When the team at Story Decorating got in touch to see if we could help find a use for some leftover paint, we jumped at the chance. It’s great to see local businesses working together with organisations like ours to make sure nothing goes to waste.”
