Cheers! Decorators Offered Chance to Win Pub Refurb
Glidden Trade is offering professional painters the chance to win a prestigious painting contract as part of its Paint and a Pint competition. The paint brand is currently calling for decorators to nominate their local for a £5,000 makeover and in return, they will get the chance to win the work.
The Paint and a Pint competition, which is back for a third year, was created to give the decorating and pub trades a much-needed boost. According to the latest statistics around 12pubs close across Britain every week.
To show its support, Glidden Trade will award one lucky pub with a business-boosting makeover using Glidden Trade coatings and money towards a reopening party for the local community. And to give a hand to the trade, professional painters and decorators who nominate their local pub will have the chance to carry out the work for it, should their entry be selected as the gold prize winner.
Commenting on the launch of the competition, Nicolas Guichard, Senior Brand Manager for Glidden Trade, said: “Despite events like the Jubilee and European Championships, it’s still proving to be a difficult time for the great British boozer, and similarly decorators across the country are continuing to feel the pinch, so we wanted to lend a helping hand.
“The competition is open for entry from any member of the public aged over 18 years, but we’d especially like the painting and decorating profession to get involved with the initiative by putting forward their local pub.”
To be in with a chance of winning the £5,000 refurbishment, independent pub landlords and their customers should state why their pub deserves a makeover in up to 30 words. Two second place prizes of £750 of Glidden Trade coatings are also on offer to help licensees spruce up their pub and three runners up will each receive £150 worth of paint from the brand to put towards their own makeover.
All entries must be received before 5pm on 30 September 2012.
Projects will be judged on the originality of their entry, and the benefits the makeover would bring to the pub and the local area. The renovation work will be carried out in late 2012, so access to the pub at this time will be crucial.
Short listing will take place in early October, with successful entrants going to an independent judging panel later that month. The winning entrants will be informed of their prize in November.
