Local help transform’s community centre

Local help transform’s community centreNational property maintenance specialist Novus Property Solutions enlisted the help of Wrexham residents to refurbish a local community centre by giving it a comprehensive makeover.

Together with Wrexham County Borough Council’s Housing Service, Novus has transformed the Pentre Gwyn Community Centre as part of its Changing Lives scheme. The team at Novus’ Wrexham office has worked in partnership with Wrexham Council’s Housing Service for several years, carrying out housing improvement works for the council’s social housing stock including an extensive kitchen and bathroom refurbishment programme.

Novus enlisted the help of volunteers from the local community including the Youth Justice Service, Caia Park Partnership, local youth club and local businesses – even current Welsh international, Christiaan Roets lent a hand. Dozens of Novus’ valued suppliers including City Electrical Factors, Travis Perkins and Plumb Centre also donated materials, enabling the project to be completed.

The makeover took nine days to complete, during which time the team installed a brand new kitchen at the Community Centre, as well as carrying out upgrades to the toilets that included new flooring, new hand dryers, and hot water taps. Seven other rooms of the centre were also decorated as part of the work.

The Changing Lives scheme is designed , say the company , to get the entire Novus workforce involved to help make a difference to the communities in which they operate.
