PPG Help Flood Victims

PPG Help Flood VictimsBirstall-based paint manufacturer PPG Architectural Coatings UK has lent its support to Calder Valley flood victims by donating hundreds of litres of paint.

The company, which manufactures paint brands Johnstone’s Trade and Leyland Trade, recently donated 630 litres of paint in a bid to help residents of Hebden Bridge and the surrounding villages of the Calder Valley as they repair and rebuild following the devastating floods over Christmas.

The donation, which was delivered to Todmorden Community College, will be distributed to those in need, helping to transform just some of the many homes and businesses affected, especially those who had been unable to get insurance against flooding and are now facing the difficult task of rebuilding everything from scratch.

The floodwater was highly toxic, carrying a virus similar to norovirus and contaminating everything in its path. As a result, every inch of wall, floor or ceiling which came into contact with the water has had to be completely replastered and repainted, with the total cost expected to run into many millions of pounds.
