VALSPAR GIVES THAT FRESH FEEL
When looking to design a new development for retirees, Forge UK Homes wanted to provide homeowners with a quality, fresh and long-lasting canvas on which to imprint their personal style. To achieve this, Valspar Trade’s Contract Matt and Acrylic Wood & Metal paint were used by painter and decorator Ashley Eldred.
An architectural practice focussing on the residential sector, Forge UK Homes have with developments across the Essex and Kent regions. Its latest project, Meadowbrook Farm, consists of nine detached bungalows situated in a 3-acre patch of land just outside of the town of Rochford.
Ashley Eldred, owner of This is How We Roll Painting & Decorating, was contracted by Forge UK Homes, saying: “I worked on around half of the bungalows on this development, delivering the interior finish. My brief was to keep the aesthetic clean and simple, allowing residents the freedom to make the space their own. To this end, I used a combination of Valspar Trade’s Contract Matt and Acrylic Wood & Metal paint in Pure Brilliant White. Both were a cost-effective solution, conforming to the budget I was set, as well as being easy to apply.
“I sprayed the underlayers of Contract Matt onto the walls and ceiling and then applied the topcoat with a brush. I often find that some paint products don’t spray on very well, due to the consistency of the emulsion. However, this wasn’t the case with the Contract Matt, which was very easy to spray it on, saving me valuable time onsite. Even when using a brush, the paint applied smoothly and it went a long way, something I was really impressed with.”
To properly coat the wooden skirting boards around the homes, Ashley also used Valspar Trade’s Acrylic Wood & Metal paint, saying: “Again, I was very impressed with the flow of the paint; it didn’t drag, and the colour was clear.
“While I had used Valspar Trade before many years ago, I’m really impressed with the improvement in its performance since last using it. I’m very pleased with the quality of its paint and use Valspar Trade on most work I undertake. I out did my own expectations with this particular development.“
