Sandtex above Par at St Andrews
Sandtex Trade High Cover Smooth has made a real impact at the home of golf, St Andrews. The maintenance team at the Old Course Hotel Golf Resort and Spa, which is located on the world’s most famous golf course, was keen to make sure the luxury venue was in pristine condition for two of the biggest tournaments on the golf calendar.
Billy Kirkpatrick, project manager at the Old Course Hotel Golf Resort and Spa St Andrews, said: “The external walls of the buildings were last painted in 2006 and we wanted them to look pristine for the 2015 British Open and the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
“We were really happy with the finished look. The TV images of the buildings looked fantastic and we enjoyed working with our chosen contractor.”
“We’ve used the same product on our external walls before and wanted a consistent colour match.
“It’s a product we trust and we like it because it’s very pliable and spreads evenly.”
Dumbreck Decorators applied Sandtex Trade High Cover Smooth in a bespoke shade entitled ‘St Andrews Special Collection,’ to all external facades. Sandtex Trade High Cover Smooth is a premium smooth masonry paint which provides a quality protective and decorative finish. Formulated for use on most exterior masonry surfaces and exterior grade building boards, it offers good opacity and 15 years guaranteed durability.
Tom Pullar of Dumbreck Decorators led the decorating team on site, with support from foreman David Beveridge. Tom said: “The job went very well. “The work was staged to avoid any inconvenience to guests and we had between four and five decorators on site at any one time over a 12 week period. It’s been a superb project for us and we are really proud of it.”
