FILLING IN THE GAPS

Rob Stewart, commercial director at Okarno, explains why roller fillers are a quick and efficient way of smoothing walls and hiding textured plaster.

Having to make good small cracks, gaps or bumpy surfaces is common on refurbishment projects. However, the job has become much easier and quicker with the introduction pf roller-applied fillers, like Dalapro Roll Nova. These products give a smooth, pro-level finish that are 30-40% faster than other methods.

Roller fillers work on various materials including plasterboard, concrete and even existing textured surfaces – much easier than trying to remove it. Our roller filler typically dries in just 8 hours, which is handy for building projects on a tight schedule. For instance, you can apply it late afternoon before leaving the site, and it’ll be dry the next morning.

Easy to Use

Applying ready-mixed roller fillers is really easy and needs little effort. The smooth, creamy texture spreads evenly across the surface, ensuring a consistent finish.  Our roller filler’s grey colour makes it easy to see where you’ve applied it, ensuring full coverage. You simply roll it straight onto the wall and then smooth it with a skimming blade and let it dry.

Each tub covers 12m2 at 1mm thickness, and there’s a handy calculator on our website to work out how much you need. It comes in a handy, pre-mixed 12-litre resealable tub available from merchants and stockists.

Resealable tubs are cost-effective because you can store it for future use. It’s also greener – it cuts down on mixing errors that might waste material – and being premixed means you always have the perfect consistency for applying. Dalapro, made by a Saint Gobain company, uses climate-neutral production and recycled packaging. The tub is mostly made from recycled plastic.

A key advantage of roller filler are their ability to level out textured surfaces – by applying several thin layers. They are great for targeted repairs, too. Whether you’re dealing with nail pops, cracks, or other small surface flaws, they can help restore a smooth, even finish.

While mainly designed for plaster and plasterboard, roller fillers work well on concrete as well. This makes them a handy choice for various projects, from new builds to industrial or commercial spaces.

For larger gaps and cracks, you can use roller fillers with scrim or joint tape for a stronger, longer-lasting fill.

Refurb projects can be a bit daunting. You’re often faced with uneven surfaces, cracks and stubborn marks, all while racing against the clock. Latest roller fillers have changed the game by delivering great results, fast.
