Water based Dulux Weathershield launched

Dulux Trade has introduced Dulux Trade Weathershield Quick Dry Exterior High Gloss, a new water-based exterior trim product that is, say the company, as durable as its solvent-based equivalent. The high gloss paint features a new formula, incorporating an alkyd emulsion innovation that helps guarantee eight years of all-weather protection for wood and metal surfaces.

Dulux say the consistency feels like an solvent-based product during application. It also provies an improved eight years of weather protection – up from six years – when applied using the full Weathershield Exterior Gloss System, including preservative primer, undercoat and then gloss. The finish has been upgraded to High Gloss with enhanced gloss retention for longer lasting shine, and – as with previous Weathershield products – includes added fungicide to ensure the surface looks better for longer.

Rebecca Orton, Marketing Manager at Dulux Trade, said: “We’re launching Dulux Trade Weathershield Quick Dry Exterior High Gloss to reinforce our commitment to providing the highest quality paints and drive trial of water-based exterior gloss systems among the trade. It is time for the industry to reassess historic notions of inferiority when talking about solvent vs. water-based exterior paints, as advances in technology are showing us that the quality credentials on both sides are becoming relatively equal. We must also consider the increasing demands from clients, who are ever more concerned about using sustainable products.

“Dulux Trade Weathershield Quick Dry Exterior High Gloss is designed for contractors and premium decorators who want the best quality paint that is durable, high gloss, and quick drying with excellent adhesion and a smooth finish. It is flexible to accommodate the natural, seasonal movement of wood and has extra adhesion due to added alkyd emulsion“.

By offering a three-base system, Dulux Trade Weathershield Quick Dry Exterior High Gloss has an expansive range in excess of 9,000 colours, with over 3,000 new shades to choose from.
