Trustmark, the Government endorsed quality mark for tradesmen says that the number of ‘tradesmen viewings’ by homeowners searching for local tradesmen on its website, www.trustmark.org.uk, during 2012 stood at 3.9 million.
During 2012, the average number of viewings across all trades increased by over 20% compared to the same period in 2011. Painters and decorators saw a rise of 13% in 2012 with August having the largest number of views – over 17,000.
All firms’ technical skills have been independently checked through on-site inspections to ensure a high quality of workmanship and trading practices. This is the only scheme that requires qualified inspectors to do these visits, so that technical competence is checked as well as business practices and customer satisfaction.
