WorldSkills UK Centre of Excellence Opens

WorldSkills UK, the education and skills charity, has joined forces with the NCFE, a leading provider of educational services, to launch the WorldSkills UK Centre of Excellence.

Specifically, for those training to work in the Painting and Decorating industry, WorldSkills UK has created a suite of accessible free online learning resources aims to “help young people develop the competitive edge that employers are looking for”

In addition to interactive modules of learning for those training and teaching in Painting and Decorating at Level 2, there are also resources that introduce strategies and techniques using principles from performance psychology to enable the apprentice to develop a high-performance mindset. This underpins WorldSkills UK’s training for WorldSkills.

Pete Walters MBE, a former FE lecturer and former UK Training Manager for Painting and Decorating has joined the WorldSkills UK Centre of Excellence and has been responsible for devising the new learning resources in Painting and Decorating. Under Pete’s leadership, he consistently guided apprentices to the world class standard in Painting and Decorating at WorldSkills. Winning a Gold medal in the 2009 Competition and Medallions of Excellence at every competition from 2013 to 2017, Pete was appointed Competition Skills Supervisor at WorldSkills Kazan 2019 where he managed the international painting and decorating competition.
