The P&D Show – Back with a Bang!
After a difficult two years for the industry, The BIG ONE is back with a bang! The National Painting and Decorating Show will be back in Coventry this November after an enforced absence in 2020 caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The industry has suffered a rollercoaster ride with contracts postponed, then the pent-up demand released once the lockdown was lifted, and now ongoing issues with supplies and delivery, but one thing is certain; the UK painting and decorating industry’s biggest and only national event will be welcoming thousands of visitors to view the latest products from nearly 100 exhibitors.
And it’s that mix of face-to-face contact, lively and informative demonstrations, the presence of go-to experts, finding new products and the chance to snap up show-only deals and free samples that appeals to the visitor.
“Rather than keep on YouTubing everything and going on websites I find it better to see the product and talk to someone”
Painter and Decorator Steven Green.
“My favourite part is the demonstrations, educational interest and the people that are doing them are from the trade”
John Martin of John Martin Painting Contractors.
“Visiting the show you get to see all the new and advancing technologies of how to work better and smarter”
Gracienne Ikin – HMG Paints Ltd.
And the exhibitors are equally enthusiastic:
“It’s the only real industry event. If you’re not here where else are you going to get a chance to interact with the people that are ultimately using your product?”
Minul Shah – Axus Décor
End-users and merchants will be among the 3,000-plus attendees expected to throng the Coventry Building Society Arena (regulars will remember it under its previous guise as the Ricoh Arena) on November 23rd and 24th.
Professionals from throughout the UK will be attending this easy-to-access central England location and exhibitors booked into this year’s event also hail from Canada, Belgium, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Scandinavia and Turkey.
And, in addition to the decorating contractors and stockists who will be there, expect also to find some interior designers, architects and housebuilders seeking out new products and systems.
“Our show is an innovations event and centres around demonstrations and masterclass areas to see the latest technology in painting and decorating,” says P&D Show organiser Terry Dullaway. “Spray painting technology has come on leaps and bounds and is now more accessible, while there has been real improvement in sophisticated coatings technology.”
He added: “We see real potential for growth at Coventry Building Society Arena, which has only been strengthened with the refurbishments to the indoor arena, the planned pavilion entrance and proposed extra hotel space on site.”
The show is now in its 26th year, the past 17 of which have been at the Coventry venue where it ranks as one of the arena’s flagship trade events. This underlines its track record as the place to be for those who use, sell, stock or specify P&D products.
Among those firms planning to launch new products at this year’s event are Timbabuild, Axus Décor, Terraco, Bedec, Rustins, and Ciret. The first 1,000 visitors through the door each day will be handed a goody bag packed with exhibitors’ samples and every attendee will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win a QTech Trade Decorators Pack worth over £1,200.
The National Painting and Decorating Show is open from 9:30 to 16:00 on November 23rd and 24th.
