Primary Colours for Dulux Trade Sterishield
Dulux Trade Sterishield Quick Drying Eggshell paint has been used to create a safe and inspiring environment for pupils as part of a refurbishment of a primary school in Staffordshire. The trade paint, which is part of the anti-bacterial range of coatings from leading paint manufacturer, AkzoNobel, has been used at St Andrew’s Primary School in Weston.
When head teacher Paul Hayward took up his new post at St Andrew’s Primary School in September 2011, he found a building that was well-loved, but in need of a fresh coat of paint. So, after hearing about the bacterial-inhibiting qualities of Dulux Trade Sterishield Quick Drying Eggshell through one of the school’s governors, he felt that it would be perfect for the high-traffic school environment.
Dulux Trade Sterishield Quick Drying Eggshell is a tough, durable mid-sheen emulsion that is suitable for all normal interior wall and ceiling surfaces, and which is applied in exactly the same way as a standard emulsion. The water-based coating contains an in-film bactericide which inhibits bacteria, and, when combined with appropriate cleaning practices, helps to promote a more hygienic environment.
It is also available in the extensive Dulux Trade colour palette of over 10,000 colours, which was an important consideration for the project. Gary Clark of Complete Conversions, the decorator on the project, explains: “St Andrew’s has a mostly blue uniform, and Paul wanted to reflect this throughout the school. Therefore, we opted for bright blue shades; Trafalgar Blue was used on the woodwork and Mineral Mist for the walls.”
