Windmill restoration turns to Bradite

A 300-year-old windmill that now provides luxury accommodation for short-break holidays has been refreshed with Bradite paints.

The structure sits atop Blackthorn Hill at Bicester in Oxfordshire. The Grade II-listed building is a stone-built tower mill that was first converted into a house in 1999. In recent years it has been transformed into a luxurious holiday let by its new owner, Alan Chapman.

Looking for help and advice for the protection of the exterior, he turned to Bradite.

“The Bradite team recommended using Bradite One Can for external walls, due to its quick-drying abilities and longevity”, Alan explains.

Both were important considerations, especially as Alan painted the external window frames at the top of the tower himself, which he described as “not an easy job and not for the faint-hearted.” A durable coating was required so that the finished result would stand the test of time

Bradite One Can was the ideal choice for the project, as it provided an easy-to-apply yet tough and professional finish. Alan explains, “Bradite has been used on masonry, iron, wood and is a joy to work with, due to quick-drying times and being water-based”.
