Chalk Paint maker and waxer by Polyvine
Offering flat matt chalk paint can mean limitations in terms of colour matching. However, a new chalk paint maker product from Polyvine can be mixed with any colour of standard matt emulsion to produce a one off chalk paint.
Standard matt emulsion in any colour is simply mixed (either by the stockist or user) in a ratio of two parts emulsion to one part Polyvine chalk paint maker. The resulting chalk paint will give the chosen colour and exactly the same coverage as the base emulsion with exactly the same drying time.
Perfect for a sympathetic historic or vintage look and ensuring a dead flat finish, the resulting chalk paint is low odour, and can be used on many different surfaces including wood, stone, ceramic, primed metal and primed matt plastic. There is, say Polyvine, rarely any need for additional surface preparation and the paint will work over previous paint or varnish and will cover in one coat.
Polyvine has also launched a chalk paint waxer in both flat and satin which can be brushed on to the chalk paint surface to protect it from scuffing and moisture. Coverage is 15 to 20 square metres per litre and drying time is one to two hours.
Brushes and tools used with both the Polyvine chalk paint maker and the chalk paint waxer can be washed in water and both products are available in 500 ml tins.
