Build-It Call to Action
Could you give a youngster a helping hand?
Build-it is a high profile community project, supported by architect George Clarke, which aims to inspire the next generation of tradespeople in Lambeth, London. It brings together young people and professional trade mentors – all of them volunteers – to help build, repair and refurbish social housing, community spaces and empty homes in Lambeth.
Build-it will give 1,500 young people the chance to learn key building and construction skills on the job whilst working with 400 professional trade mentors from the local community. Young Participants will gain accredited qualifications and access to a variety of further training, work experience and progression opportunities through various housing associations and building contractors.
Want to get involved?
The Build It team are looking for all types of tradespeople to mentor the young participants on the project and show them the tricks of the trade over the next few months. The sites will be open from 9.30-16.30 Monday-Thursday and you can volunteer as much or as little time as you like, fitting it around your paid work so you don’t need to lose out. We can reimburse any travel expenses and can provide you with lunch on the day.
In return for your time we can provide you with written references and testimonials of your work, free CSCS training, a free DBS check and great PR for your company.
